SeaWorld Orlando Caring for Manatee Calf
Last month, a roughly two-week old baby male manatee was found abandoned in the Halifax River off the east coast of Florida. The orphaned calf was quickly transported to SeaWorld Orlando’s Rescue facility by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).Upon arrival, SeaWorld’s expert veterinary team examined the 50lbs and 115cm calf who was found with its umbilical cord still attached. Around-the-clock care began immediately and now the calf receives tube feeding every three hours, daily check-ups and 24/7 monitored care.
