Hotel Le Crystal

Hotel Le Crystal is appointing Nathalie Jeghers to vice-president, sales and marketing. She will oversee revenue generation for the hotel and play a role in the company’s strategic management team. A well-respected industry leader, Jeghers brings with her experience in senior positions with a number of hotel brands; among them, IHG, Holiday Inn, Delta and Hilton. Most recently, she served as national director of sales and regional director of sales and marketing for Silverbirch Hotels & Resorts. ETC

The CEO of the German National Tourist Board, Petra Hedorfer has been elected as the president of the European Travel Commission (ETC). Hedorfer succeeds the ETC’s outgoing president, Arthur Oberascher of Austria, for a three-year term. Also elected as ETC vice-presidents were: Peter De Wilde of Toerisme Vlaanderen, Belgium, Dr. Ivan Rona, Hungarian National Tourist Office, Hungary and Dimitrij Piciga, Slovenian Tourist Board, Slovenia.

Virgin America

Virgin America has appointed John Varley as its senior vice-president and general counsel. He will join Virgin America this month (July) and will serve as the airline’s chief legal officer. Varley will also oversee the carrier’s government affairs program and its sustainability efforts. He comes to Virgin America after a 22-year career with Delta Air Lines, where he most recently served as vice-president and deputy general counsel.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler has appointed Sunny Joseph to the post of director of operations. He joins the hotel from the Fairmont Dubai, where he served as director of food and beverage, responsible for the banqueting department and the hotel’s 10 restaurants and lounges. Prior to joining the Fairmont Dubai, Joseph held various positions in food and beverage operations in India, the U.A.E. and Australia. He a graduate of the Mahatma Gandhi University in India and is accredited from the United Kingdom Bartending Guild, AHMA, and the International Institute Meridien in France.
