Air Canada Takes Off To Berlin

Travel trade types in Toronto celebrated with Air Canada and representatives from the German National Tourist Office and Visit Berlin as the airline added Berlin to the destinations that its “ever-expanding” route network now serves.

AC’s vice-president, global sales, Duncan Bureau told an audience of about 120 that with the launch of Berlin service – beginning June 3 and operated four times a week by Air Canada rouge – the airline has now introduced 20 new destinations to its route network so far in 2017.

Last year, Bureau pointed out, Air Canada launched service into 28 new markets.

The new Berlin service now sees Air Canada operating flights to 3 cities in Germany, with Bureau telling his audience that Germany has been part of the carrier’s network for over 60 years.

Antje Splettstoesser, Canadian director for the German National Tourist Office, pointed out that the most overnights by Canadians are spent in Berlin, making it clear that the expectation is that those new Air Canada flights will drive those numbers up.

Splettstoesser also pointed out just how “amazing” Berlin is, telling the travel trade crowd that their clients will be inspired by the city’s culture, history, nature, food, music, events and lots more.

And Visit Berlin’s Kirsten Schmidt provide her audience with a video day-trip around what she described as “Europe’s most exciting capital,” showing them all of the things that their clients could do and see.
