A festive event hosted by Jamaica’s Meliá Braco Village last night (Dec. 6) in Toronto came with the news of a special, limited time cash incentive for travel agents.

With the new Triple Cash Incentive, agents can earn up to US$120 when booking the five-star all-inclusive resort, recently awarded “World’s Leading New Island Resort 2016” at the World Travel Awards.

Bookings must be made by Dec. 31 for travel Jan. 1 through Feb. 28. Bookings of three to four nights earn agents a bonus of US$60, five or six nights US$90 and seven nights or more (which most Canadians book) US$120.

On hand for the event held at the Park Hyatt was general manager Dimitris Kosvogiannis, who thanked travel partners for their support, noting that Canadians represent about 35% of the resort’s guests. The goal for 2017 is to get that number to 40%.

“We have very quickly recognized the importance of the Canadian market for this property,” he said. “And truly appreciate the support we are receiving not only from the tour operators, but also the travel agent who clearly knows the quality of the Meliá brand and is very comfortable selling it.”

Kosvogiannis said he has strong faith in the Canadian market and called Canadians “discerning, classy” travellers.

He added, “our goal is to give guests a unique and out of the box experience. We look after all requests.”

The 226-room Braco Village is known for its private beach and service, boasting a staff/guest ratio of almost one to one. Kosvogiannis invited agents to come experience the resort, noting the first two nights are on the house.

The trade mission continues today in Montreal.
