Dwarfing every other commercial jet in the skies and sporting a wingspan that will barely fit inside a football field, the A380 800 aircraft was the star of the show yesterday (May 25) as Emirates hosted a group of industry personnel to show off the impressive plane at Pearson International in Toronto.

Emirates boasts the world’s largest fleet of Airbus A380s – there are currently 74 in service, including one that flies from Toronto to Dubai. The 489-passenger planes (in ultra long range configuration) are equipped with industry-leading comforts, including a First Class cabin featuring 14 private suites and two “Shower Spas” with heated flooring and leather seating. The suites come fully equipped with a sliding door for privacy, a personal mini-bar, adjustable ambient lighting and its own vanity table, mirror and wardrobe.

Another impressive feature on the A380 is the onboard lounge (see below), for the exclusive use of First and Business Class passengers. The First Class experience also includes such extras as High Tea and hors d’oeuvres served at the lounge. First Class passengers also have access to Emirates’ complimentary airport chauffeur service.
Luxury amenity kits for First and Business Class passengers feature products by Bulgari.

Inflight entertainment features more than 2,000 on-demand channels, text messaging and e-mail facilities. “Airshow” displays live information on the progress of the flight, including cameras on the underside of the aircraft showing images of the land below.

Food and drink onboard is also above board. Emirates offers a new route -specific wine list featuring exclusive champagnes, red and white wines and ports sourced from countries across its global network. Features in the First Class cabin include Royal Doulton bone china and linen napkins and tablecloths.
