GO Canada!

Air Canada Vacations is moving into virtually untested waters with a major new initiative that invites Canadians to discover their own country from coast to coast to coast, reports Montreal editor, Mike Dunbar in this week’s digital edition of Canadian Travel Press.

It’s only fitting that ACV should be debuting its far-reaching Go Canada inclusive tour collection at this time, since Canada features prominently in the company name and Canadians are embarking on a year-long celebration of the nation’s 150th birthday, said VP sales and partnerships George Platanitis.

“The existing domestic tour program has been pretty much non-existent,” conceded Platanitis, “So there’s no better time to introduce a comprehensive offering that will allow Canadians to get out there and make this their Canada.”

The operator’s pre-launch publicity proclaims, “2017 is Canada’s 150th anniversary and to celebrate we’ve done it and we’ve done it big!” Therefore, ACV will this month be rolling out a mega-array of air-inclusive tour options.

The extensive offering will be grouped under seven themes, explained Platanitis:

  • Urban Getaways featuring hotel packages across all major Canadian cities.
  • Fly and Rail and Fly and Drive tours offering multiple independent itineraries exploring Canada.
  •  Ski and Golf Vacations highlighting hotel and ski-pass arrangements at premier resorts as well as golf at some of the finest courses in Canada from Vancouver Island to PEI.
  • The portfolio will be rounded out with Guided Tours offering flights, meals, activities and accommodations in western, eastern and Atlantic Canada and Wildlife Adventures allowing participants to view the nation’s abundant wildlife from the Saint Lawrence to the Arctic.

Platanitis stressed, “The GO Canada program will be ever-evolving. We are launching with a sampling of products and themes but it’s critical that the travel trade understands that the offering will be in constant evolution, so all the collateral we create – be it gatefold or brochure – will be a sampling rather than the full and final product.”
