On The Road At Tianguis 2015

Mexico’s long-running tourism show, once held in Acapulco every year, returned to the Pacific coastal city for the first time in several years, with one government official saying during Monday’s opening ceremony that it was “a pleasure to be back in Acapulco,” reports Press Today’s Ian Stalker from the show.

Tourism officials decided several years ago to begin rotating the show, only to later decide that Acapulco would host the event every second year.

Acapulco, which has seen the number of foreign tourists it hosts decline in recent years, hopes the show’s return will be a major boost to its tourism trade.

The show is being held in the newish Acapulco Diamente district, a change from previous shows, which were held in the city’s downtown core.

The show opened with tourism officials stating that Mexican tourism is on a roll, and 2015 expected to be strong year for Mexican tourism.
