Easing of entry rules to Belgium
information Now it is easier than ever to visit Flanders on a European vacation. Belgium has updated its entry requirements for travelers from North America. Visitors from North America only need to be fully vaccinated and complete a Belgian Passenger Locator form (PLF) before arrival. A vaccination with a booster shot currently has no expiration date. Without a booster, the vaccination is considered expired after 270 days.

Specific conditions of your entry can vary depending on the nationality of the traveler and the whereabouts in the 14 days prior to entry to Belgium. It is always best to check the latest status on the Belgian Covid website.

Tour de Geuze
Tour de Geuze During this biennial event, the lambic breweries and geuze blending houses opened their doors to the public this past weekend. There were free guided tours and, of course, a chance to sample lambic, gueuze, kriek and other lambic beers on the premises. The breweries and blending houses could be visited at leisure by car or bike, or a seat could be reserved on a tour bus that took visitors to different breweries and blending houses.

Interested in the Lambic and Geuze styles, but missed last weekend’s event? No worries, visit Tour de Geuze to watch all online events and seminars. Book your beer clients on a trip to Flanders for the next edition in spring 2023.

Design Museum Ghent undergoing renovations
Design Museum Ghent Since 1993, the Design Museum Ghent has been waiting for a new wing to complete the site, with extra space for temporary presentations, workshops, lectures and events, space for art handling and logistics. Now the time has come. The plans for the brand-new wing are ready. The foundation stone will be laid in the summer of 2022. A project with great and sustainable ambitions, a real bridge between the city, visitors and the design world.

An open and climate-conscious extension, without barriers, where you can drop in for free for a first introduction to the various aspects of design. The museum has been closed since March 7th, but it will use the time to continue digitizing the collections and prepare new exhibitions and a new website. Fall 2024 is the target date for the grand opening of the renovated museum.

Ricardo Brey exhibition: Gap in the Gloud
Hof van Busleyden Through Gap in the Clouds Ricardo Brey makes a positive statement and gives a ray of hope in these turbulent times. Brey was inspired to create a series of introspective works after experiencing the pandemic and the emotive race and gender equality protests. The new work is conscious of the past, but turns a brave face to the future.

In his work Ricardo Brey draws inspiration from the strength and depth of Afro-Cuban culture, from his personal recollections and from myth, legend and stories. In this exhibition the centerpiece is the Every Life is a Fire series: surprise and wonder evoked by a line of sealed boxes. Their opening is a ritual in itself, that focuses the mind on what is happening.

The exhibtion can be seen at Museum Hof van Busleyden in Mechelen from May 20th to August 28th, 2022.

Situated in the north of Belgium, Flanders boasts six beautifully preserved historic cities:
Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Leuven, and Mechelen.
