HISTORY AND LOCATIONS
The concept of Shangri-La first leapt out of the imagination of English author James Hilton and onto the pages of Lost Horizon, his 1930’s novel about a land of peace and serenity. From the day Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts opened its first property in Singapore in 1971, its goal has been a simple one: to instill in its guests the sense of extraordinary contentment defined in Hilton’s Lost Horizon.
Today, Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is Asia Pacific’s leading luxury hotel group and is regarded as one of the world’s finest hotel management companies. The group is comprised of more than 80 deluxe hotels and resorts throughout Asia Pacific, North America, the Middle East and Europe.
