Message From Indigenous Tourism Manitoba

Dear Rendez-vous Canada Delegates,

We’re excited to welcome you to Treaty 1 Territory in just under two months! On behalf of Indigenous Tourism Manitoba, I’m thrilled to invite you on an Adventure to Understanding, an opportunity to learn more about the Indigenous Peoples who have lived on and cared for these lands for time immemorial, and today, they welcome you to explore, learn and connect in a way that only travel can offer.

Indigenous culture isn’t just a part of Manitoba’s past—it’s part of nearly every experience throughout the province. In Winnipeg, walk in the footsteps of Manitoba’s Métis founder Louis Riel or savour dishes inspired by traditional Indigenous fare. Outside the city, step into centuries of history at the Bannock Point Petroforms, experience the thrill of dog sledding in Canada’s North or join Indigenous guides for an immersive journey into the land and traditions of their ancestors.

Whatever adventure you choose, we invite you to see Manitoba through authentic Indigenous tourism experiences that deepen your connection to the land, its history and its people.

We can’t wait for you to join us in Manitoba.

Artist Spotlight

To build excitement for RVC 2025, our hosts at Travel Manitoba and Tourism Winnipeg commissioned local Indigenous artist Jordan Stranger to create artwork that speaks to the Indigenous experiences in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. Watch the video below to learn more about the piece and the artist.

Meet Some of Our Local Indigenous Tourism Businesses

Manitoba is thrilled to be showcasing an incredible lineup of local Indigenous businesses at this year’s Rendez-vous Canada—right here on our Treaty Territories. Manitoba is located on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, and Nehethowuk Nations and is the Homeland of the Red River Métis. Northern Manitoba is also home to the ancestral lands of the Inuit, whose deep connection to this land continues today.
