San Antonio, Toronto Connect

Texas-San-Antonio
Air Canada and the San Antonio International Airport have announced a new daily non-stop flight to Toronto that will begin on May 1, 2017.

Canada is already among San Antonio’s top international leisure markets, and the pending connection will make it much easier for travellers to experience the heart of Texas.

San Antonio Mayor Ivy R. Taylor, said: “Daily nonstop service to and from San Antonio and Toronto provides a great opportunity for both cities. With San Antonio celebrating its Tricentennial in 2018, we hope Canadians take advantage of the flights to come see everything we have to offer, too.”

San Antonio, which welcomes more than 34 million total visitors a year, is the top tourism destination in Texas. Its rich history, culture and growing arts and culinary scene includes the world-famous Alamo, 24-kms-long River Walk and Pearl, a historic brewery transformed into a complex with independent restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The city’s five Spanish colonial missions, featuring the Alamo, are the only World Heritage Site in Texas.

The new nonstop flights are an expansion tool for tourism as well as business opportunities in Toronto and San Antonio.

Canada has long been an important market for the city’s economic development efforts, according to San Antonio city manager, Sheryl Sculley.

Scully said: “Toronto is a global business center, which is especially significant for our Aerospace, Bioscience, Technology and New Energy sectors.”

Air Canada will fly an Embraer E175, a narrow-body, medium-range craft. The plane includes nine business-class seats and 64 economy seats.
