G Adventures announces new luxury travel style, Morocco as destination for GX 2026

A weeklong celebration of community tourism and G Adventures’ 35th anniversary culminated with the GX World Community Tourism Summit in Amman, Jordan. Coinciding with World Tourism Day on Sept. 27, all those in attendance for GX Jordan were the first to hear about some big announcements from G Adventures, including the launch of a new high-end travel style, National Geographic Signature with G Adventures.

“This new travel style will be unlike anything else that’s in the market. It will revolutionize the luxury travel market, providing opportunities for locals,” said Ben Perlo, president and chief executive officer of G Adventures, taking the stage to announce the new travel style hitting the market in 2026 with 29 trips. “The new way of exploring will offer travellers who are seeking a more traditional luxury experience the opportunity to see a destination through a unique lens in an immersive, socially conscious experience with unrivalled expert-led education.”

The new Signature trips will take the National Geographic Expeditions partnership to more destinations around the world, including South Africa, Vietnam, Japan, Central Asia, Peru and Jordan. While many high-end travel experiences focus solely on comfort and exclusivity, these adventures are designed to benefit local communities along with special experiences like exclusive behind-the-scenes access to museums, historic sites or dining in extraordinary settings.

“We knew there was a huge opportunity to develop a more conscious and meaningful way to travel within the luxury sector,” said Bruce Poon Tip, the founder of G Adventures. “National Geographic Signature with G Adventures is about so much more than just high-end accommodations — the trips offer transformational adventures with the opportunity to see and experience a destination in a way most travellers can’t, while creating lasting benefit for both the traveller and the communities they visit… The launch of National Geographic Signature with G Adventures poses a huge opportunity for our community of travel agents, as we bring this incredible offering to our global markets. These new trips will allow agents to offer their most discerning clients an experience that satisfies both their intellectual curiosity and desire to contribute positively to the world.”

The next GX? Say hello to Morocco!

Another big reveal during the Community Tourism Summit was that Morocco will be playing host to the fourth annual GX.

“Now is the big announcement everyone has been waiting for — where is GX next year?” Poon Tip said on stage, but not before thanking Visit Jordan for their efforts and hard work this year.

“I can’t thank Jordan enough. I’m so thrilled that we made the decision to come here. It seemed like a tough decision at the time, then in the middle I regretted it as it got more complicated, but now that we’re here, it’s unbelievable. It was the perfect destination and the perfect place,” he said. “When you go back, tell everyone how beautiful Jordan is. One thing I would ask anyone as I walked around the groups was do you feel safe? [with the crowd shouting YES! in response]. Have you ever felt unsafe since you’ve been here? [with a roar of NO! from the crowd]. It’s one of the safest places on earth. Just go back and tell everyone about it. The best thing you can do is to tell stories… Just remember how Jordan made you feel, it’s been a very special time.”

Then, the big reveal was made with a video highlighting some of the highlights that await travellers in Morocco, resulting in an eruption of cheers and applause from the audience.

“We are very proud that Morocco has been chosen to host the GX Summit in 2026. It’s a recognition of Morocco’s position as the leading tourism destination in Africa and of our strong commitment to responsible and community-driven tourism. After the 2023 earthquake, Morocco demonstrated remarkable resilience with communities, government and international partners coming together, and today international arrivals are at record highs,” Meryem Bennouna, director – UK, Ireland, and Nordics for the Moroccan National Tourist Office told TravelPressToday. “By hosting GX, we want to showcase not only Morocco’s diverse landscapes and culture, but also the spirit of its people and the values of sustainability and community that are at the heart of our tourism strategy. We hope travellers will leave inspired, with a deeper connection to Morocco and to the idea that tourism can be a powerful force for positive change.”
Lando expansion from Africa to South America

Those who are familiar with G Adventures tours in Africa will know the tours operate using the Lando, custom-built, on-brand purple overland adventure vehicles. In the works for the past year, the vehicles are now getting ready to hit the road on tours in South America.

“With the same design as the Lando, it’s going to be modified a little differently to meet the standards of the terrain of South America. We’re very excited to have the Lando coming to South America,” said Poon Tip.

Spotlight on community tourism

Kajal Singh, who led our Salaam Baalak Trust walking tour for GX India last year, is now a G Adventures guide and was featured in a youth panel during the World Community Tourism Summit

Beyond the news, the focus of GX World Community Tourism Summit was on highlighting the power of tourism for good featuring panel discussions and key note speakers. One of the highlights was a powerful youth panel discussion called The Next Generation’s Vision for Community Tourism featuring Bruce’s daughters Jada and Terra Poon Tip. Notably, one of the speakers was Kajal Singh, who led walking tours for Salaam Baalak Trust during GX India last year, and is now a guide working with G Adventures.

Everyone in attendance was given an advanced copy of Poon Tip’s latest book, Communityship: lessons from the universe and the business of everyone, with a prize giveaway to take part in a G Adventures trip to the Amazon to visit Delfin Pauchi Uhigua, who was announced as a Global Ambassador for G Adventures. In a full circle moment, Ecuador was the destination for G Adventures’ first ever tour back in February 1991.

Can you feel it? The Jacksons perform at a memorable after party for GX Jordan

Kathy Hannah, a home-based consultant with Roblin Travel and Cruise in Chilliwack, B.C., told TravelPressToday that being on location in Jordan has been filled with many highlights from floating in the Dead Sea three different times to experiencing the history and landscapes, and admiring Petra by day and night.

“I really want to promote this destination not only for everything we’ve experienced this week but to help the communities and everyone with their travel industry,” Hannah said. “It’s heartbreaking how low tourism is here right now, everyone has different comfort levels, but I really want to encourage people to try it especially now when there are so few people here it’s a great time to tour.”

After an informative day at the Summit, the festivities wrapped up with a white party event held at the Amman Citadel before all the tracks headed to a memorable after party featuring a performance by The Jacksons.
