Intentional travel is in and NCL has set a course to deliver

In 2026, travellers are choosing stress‑free moments, meaningful connections with loved ones and the freedom to slow down. And Norwegian Cruise Line is setting a course to deliver the freedom and flexibility that those travellers are increasingly looking when vacationing.
In fact, a new YouGov survey conducted on behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) reveals that more than half of travellers plan to embrace more mindful and intentional travel in 2026.
This shift reflects the continued rise of the “Joy of Missing Out” — a travel mindset encouraging travellers to step away from bucket‑list pressure and overpacked itineraries in favor of journeys centered around presence, flexibility and the freedom to focus on what truly matters.
And data from the recent survey underscores this sentiment, revealing that in 2026, nearly 80% of respondents are planning more stress-free experiences, while 86% seek quality time away from daily distractions when travelling.

Over 60% said they would gladly trade a full day of sightseeing for uninterrupted rest. Four out of five also want flexibility to shape each day of their vacation based on how they feel in the moment.
When choosing who to travel with, people are prioritizing connection and personal fulfillment. Over 40% of respondents plan to travel with a partner or spouse for quality time together. Family travel remains strong, with 30% planning multigenerational trips, while one in 10 plan to organize friend getaways built around shared experiences and relaxation.
With Wave Season now underway, NCL is currently offering its popular Second Guest Sails Free promotion on all cruises to help travellers enjoy the freedom that they’re looking for.
The offer is combinable with NCL’s Free at Sea package, which delivers guest-favorite amenities, including the most valuable beverage package at sea, Wi-Fi, dining experiences and shore excursion credits, as well as free airfare for the second guest.

Marc Kazlauskas, president at Norwegian Cruise Line, observed that: “Wave Season is the perfect moment for travelers to design a getaway that reflects who they are and what they need.”
And Kazlauskas continued: “Mindful and intentional travel is more than a trend; it’s a long‑lasting shift toward meaningful experiences. Travellers want the freedom to design their own journey, and with NCL, every detail is curated to make that possible. ‘It’s Different Out Here’ isn’t just our brand promise — it’s how we deliver effortless escapes, true flexibility and the space to be fully present.”
