ACTA launching Accessible Travel Advisor Directory

ACTA is launching its Accessible Travel Advisor Directory — a first-of-its-kind resource that connects Canadians with travel advisors specializing in accessible travel for both visible and non-visible disabilities.

The directory will open to the public once the inaugural listing is compiled, following a one-month application period for qualified ACTA members.

This groundbreaking Canadian directory addresses a critical gap in the travel industry by providing a vetted, reliable resource for travellers seeking advisors with proven expertise in accessible travel.

It will also serve as a trusted referral tool for travel advisors who encounter clients requiring specialized accessibility support beyond their own expertise.

ACTA President Suzanne Acton-Gervais explained that: “Creating an inclusive travel industry means ensuring every Canadian can confidently plan and enjoy travel experiences.”

And Acton-Gervais continued: “The Accessible Travel Advisor Directory is not only a resource for persons with disabilities seeking to travel—it’s a direct reflection of ACTA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) priorities. By setting rigorous standards for inclusion and doing our part to build trust and remove barriers, we are advancing our mission to ensure accessibility is a cornerstone of Canada’s travel industry.”

Key features of the Accessible Travel Advisor Directory include:

  • Easy-to-search database to help clients find advisors based on specific accessibility needs
  • Coverage of specializations for both visible and non-visible disabilities
  • Diligent vetting process to ensure advisors have demonstrated expertise in accessible travel
  • Free listing for qualified ACTA members with no application fees
  • • Valuable referral resource for travel advisors seeking specialized professionals
  • • Available in English and French

The directory is available exclusively to active ACTA members as a complimentary member benefit.

Applications are now open through a dedicated portal, with a one-month window to build a robust initial database of qualified advisors.

Ongoing applications will continue to be accepted after launch, with applicants notified of their status ahead of the public release.

ACTA will support the launch with a nationwide media campaign to raise awareness among Canadian travellers about this new resource and the importance of working with qualified professionals when planning accessible travel.

ACTA invites qualified travel advisors to apply now to secure their place in the inaugural Accessible Travel Advisor Directory.
