Aeromexico connecting Mexico with the world

Aeromexico is adding planes and routes alike this year, while touting an on-time record that it says is unequalled.

Jose Zapata, the airline’s vice-president of sales for the United States, Canada and Latin America, told a Thursday webinar that his carrier now has 166 planes, with plans to add an additional 5 this year. Three of the new planes will be 737-Max 8s, while the other two will be 787-9s.

Zapata added that his airline now has one of the youngest fleets in the industry.

This year will also see the carrier — which now has a network that includes Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver — add 4 routes, one of which will link Mexico City with Quito, while another will connect the Mexican capital with Tegucigalpa.

The carrier will have 133 routes by year’s end.

“Nobody connects Mexico with the world … better than Aeromexico,” Zapata said.

Other developments include upgrading airline lounges and check-in facilities in Mexico City, where the carrier has a huge presence.

Another development is seeing the airline continuing to provide WiFi on its planes, with all of its fleet expected to offer that service by the end of the year.

Zapata also told webinar listeners that he’s “super proud” that his carrier has for the second straight year had the best on-time performance of any airline, with 90% of 2025 flights arriving on time.

As well, around 99% of its flights arrived as planned, an unmatched figure.

“We’re talking about giving peace of mind to our travellers,” he said of that performance.

Meanwhile, Zapata praised Aeromexico for having “one of the best entertainment systems” in the airline industry, which he said is something its passengers will be able to appreciate.
