Air Transat hosts a double celebration in Toronto

Air Transat was in a celebratory mood last week as the airline celebrated the launch of four new routes from Toronto and also marked its 38th anniversary (Nov. 14, 1987) at the same time.

Held at the funky Space on King event space in the city’s downtown late last week, the evening featured some signature cocktails, tasty food, lively music and dancing and a fun and festive atmosphere.

Bernard Cote, Senior Director Brand Communications for Air Transat, made it clear that the big news of the evening was the airline’s launch of four new flights from Toronto – Medellin, Colombia (via Cartegena) launched Nov. 1; Istanbul, Turkey launching Dec. 16; Georgetown, Guyana also launching Dec. 16; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, set to take off on Feb. 4 next year.

Speaking with Travel Press Today, Cote explained that Air Transat is diversifying its network, launching ‘bold’ new routes that respond to the looking to offer its customers some more unique destinations that respond to the demands of the ‘curious’ traveller.

And Cote observed that as the world’s best leisure airline (earning that designation for seven years in a row from SkyTrax), Air Transat has been all about connecting people, places, cultures and experiences through the destinations is operates to and the services it offers its travellers.

But there’s more. Coincidental to its celebration in Toronto, Air Transat announced two additional routes for its summer 2026 program.

The carrier will add a new non-stop from Montreal to Dakar, Senegal and a non-stop to Reykjavik, Iceland next summer.

And because of the popularity of the destination, Air Transat will be increasing the frequency of its flights to Valencia, Spain – which was launched in the summer of 2025.

Dakar flights will operate twice weekly from June 17 to Oct. 21, 2026, while twice weekly flights to Reykjavik will operate from June 16 to Sept. 27, 2026.

Finally, from June 16 to Sept. 8, 2026, Air Transat will add an extra flight to its route to Valencia. During this period, the airline will operate the route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

And last, but certainly not least, Air Transat and Transat have launched their Black Friday sales.

Air Transat is offering reduced fares on flights to Europe, Morocco, the South, and Florida. The sale applies to bookings made by Nov. 30, 2025.

Transat’s all-inclusive packages to the South and Europe are available with discounts of up to $2,500 for two people. Each package includes one checked bag and one carry-on bag. In addition, travel enthusiasts can get up to 50% off Option Flex Standard, allowing them to modify, transfer or cancel their reservation with peace of mind.
