An Educating Experience

tc-ACTA-1

Tourism and hospitality students from colleges across southern Ontario gathered at the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) Student Conference yesterday, Nov. 10, at the Woodbine Conference Centre in Toronto.

Through a roster of diverse speakers, the annual conference provided students with the opportunity to meet key industry leaders, understand market trends, and learn more about career opportunities available within the travel industry such as corporate travel, sales, destination marketing and more.

Students also heard presentations from networking organizations – Young Skal, Young Travel Professionals, and the Baxter Student Ambassador Program – all aimed at mentoring youth and fostering fresh talent in the tourism industry.

After a full-day program, the students – many of whom were in their second year of study — were especially excited to test their new networking skills during an hour-long trade show featuring tour operators like Sandals, WestJet, Transat, Goway, media companies like Travel Courier, and many more.
