WestJet reports that Transport Canada has issued an air operator certificate (AOC) for WestJet Encore, which launches service in Western Canada on June 24. An air operator certificate is granted following an extensive application process whereby Transport Canada determines whether or not a company's facilities and organizational structure, including properly licensed and qualified personnel, meet the applicable requirements. CTA ORDERS WESTJET TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION
The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has ruled on the reasonableness and clarity of WestJet's international tariff provisions related to its denied boarding compensation. In response to a complaint alleging that WestJet's international tariff contained several unreasonable and conflicting provisions respecting denied boarding, WestJet will now have to provide compensation to passengers affected by denied boarding on flights to and from Canada. LOT Polish Airlines will inaugurate new 787 Dreamliner non-stop service from Toronto to Warsaw today (June 7) and will make aviation history as the first European Airline to operate the Dreamliner from Toronto's Pearson International Airport. LOT's inbound Dreamliner flight from Warsaw is scheduled to touch down at Pearson at 8:15 p.m. and upon arrival will be welcomed with a traditional water salute.
