Porter, SAA launch interline agreement
Porter Airlines and South African Airways (SAA) has launched a new interline agreement that will open up connection opportunities for passengers travelling between Canada and West and Southern Africa through Porter's Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport hub and SAA's Johannesburg, South Africa hub, via Washington, DC (Dulles). In its newly released outlook on Canada's air transportation industry, the Conference Board of Canada says that this country's airlines "can expect a second consecutive year of losses in 2012." Transat A.T. Inc. reports that it posted revenues of $909.1 million for the quarter ended July 31, 2012, compared with $937.0 million in 2011, a decrease of $27.9 million, or 3.0%. Air Transat has been recognized as "Most Climate Efficient North American Net Carrier" by the German organization atmosfair, which for the second year in a row evaluated the environmental performance of some 130 carriers, rating their atmospheric CO2 emissions and ranking them in its Airline Index. Travelport has signed a new, long-term, airline IT services agreement with TUIfly, the third largest airline in Germany. The e-Ticketing technology is utilized by TUIfly Vermarktungs GmbH (TUIfly.com), the flight travel portal of TUI Deutschland. Letter of intent signed
Hawaiian regional carrier, Island Air, has signed a letter of intent leasing five ATR 42 jet prop aircraft and marking the next step in the carrier's New Business Plan (NBP) launched earlier this year. CTA helping travellers make choices
The Canadian Transportation Agency has released a tariff repository that's designed to help travellers familiarize themselves with air carriers' terms and conditions of carriage. The repository provides a "one-window" direct access to major airlines' web sites where airline tariffs can be found, in turn, enabling passengers to read about their rights and responsibilities when travelling.
