CARNIVAL SPLITS EXEC ROLES
Carnival Corporation & plc said it is planning to split the roles of chairman and chief executive officer. Micky Arison will continue to serve as chairman of the board of the company and Arnold W. Donald, who has served on the company's board for the past 12 years, will assume the CEO role effective July 3. When Arison became CEO in 1979, the company was privately held and operated three cruise ships under one brand, generating $44 million in revenues and carrying approximately 160,000 passengers a year. Cruise3Sixty came to Vancouver for the just the second time recently, and was deemed a success by both attendees and organizers. Royal Caribbean International has a unveiled the details of its new "Lowest Airfare Guarantee" with Royal Caribbean ChoiceAir. Passengers who find a cheaper airfare within 24 hours of booking their flights on ChoiceAir, Royal Caribbean will refund them 110% of the difference in onboard credit to spend on their cruise vacation. CUBA CRUISE SET TO SAIL
Cuba Cruise reports it's securing tour operators for its seven-night Cuba cruises, set to begin Dec. 16. Among tour operators it's working with in Canada are Transat Holidays, Hola Sun and Caribe Sol. Sailings will run until March 24, with prices starting at $586 p.p. The vessel used will be the Louis Cristal, which has a yacht-like design and staterooms and suites, some with balconies and all with a shower, telephone, hairdryer and TV.
