Contiki expands active trip offer with small group adventures in Nepal

Contiki is expanding its active trips portfolio with the launch of new small-group tours in Nepal.

The new offering is designed for travellers seeking bucket-list ventures without logistical stress, the new itineraries blend culture, wildlife, adventure, and must-see landmarks with Contiki’s signature social style and expert support.

Tom O’Hara, Head of Brand at Contiki, explained that: “We’re seeing a real shift in how Gen Z and millennial travellers define a great vacation. For over half of our 2025 Voice of a Generation respondents, a balance in types of experience while on vacation isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s essential.”

And O’Hara continued: “They are telling us they want to be active and explore, connect more authentically with local cultures, and ultimately return home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. These new trips tap into that, blending adventure, local tradition, and meaningful connection to create an experience that stays with you.”

The launch also follows a notable rise in demand for hiking-focused trips among Contiki’s core audience. Two-thirds of respondents in the same survey named hiking their top type of active trip, with over 20% of respondents naming Nepal as a top destination for this type of travel.

From Kathmandu to the Himalayas, these new 16-person small-group trips showcase Nepal’s most iconic landscapes with community-based encounters and unforgettable trekking experiences.
