Destinations: Where, When, And How To Reopen

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported that 100% of destinations surveyed had at least some form of travel restrictions in place. While destinations and tourism boards are sending out positive messages about welcoming the return of visitors, there are still questions that remain unanswered…

On June 23 at 1PM EST, join Baxter Media for a free webinar Destinations: where, when, and how to reopen for tourism, part of the highly anticipated #TravelWebcastWeek series exploring the future of travel and tourism in a post-COVID-19 world.

In this webcast, the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Minister for Tourism, Jamaica joins Baxter Media’s Executive Editor, Bob Mowat for an intimate interview to discuss the new Generation C demographic, the Resilience Center leading the way in Jamaica, and how the nation is balancing travel and tourism while living with COVID-19.

The Minister’s interview will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Dana Welch, Manager, Canada, Tourism Ireland + Chair, European Travel Commission, Canada Chapter; Susan Webb, President, VoX International + Chair, Discover America Canada; and Michael Lim, Director Canada, Central & South America, Hong Kong Tourism Board + Asia Now representative. As a panel, they will offer answers to key questions, like when can the industry reasonably expect destinations to reopen for business? Where will those openings be? How will these destinations reopen? What kind of protocols will be put in place to protect both visitors and workers and prevent the spread of COVID-19?

The session will conclude with a case study on Israel. Gal Hana, Director for Canada, Israel Ministry of Tourism will walk the audience through COVID-19’s impact on tourism. From the lows of being one of the first nations to close its borders and the impact on the unemployment rate, to the high of appreciating just how significant tourism is to the country’s economy.

Webcast participants are encouraged to ask questions of any of our guests at the end of each segment.
