Best Case: What do you hope will happen in the next 12 months? Why?

The delivery of a COVID-19 vaccine that is readily available to the general public. The vaccine would be effective and would allow quarantine restrictions to be removed and our borders to safely re-open. This will instill confidence in travellers and allow corporations to relax travel restrictions, especially in key transborder and European markets which will in turn stimulate our economy.

Worst Case: What do you fear might happen in the next 12 months? Why?

Prolonged travel restrictions, quarantines, border closures and apprehension of travel to continue. Overall passenger demand would remain stagnant and the world economies will lag in recovery. The travel industry and small businesses will need to develop innovative ways to generate revenue and deliver value to remain viable.

Expected Case: What do you realistically expect to happen in the next 12 months? Why?

We anticipate that a vaccine will first be available to our most vulnerable populations and front-line workers. The travel industry will push to use science-based data through testing to demonstrate that there are safe alternatives to quarantines and border closures. Safety and cleaning protocols will continue to be refined making air travel the safest mode of transportation.
