Quite the Experience: Elevated Escapes with Cancun by Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy recently hosted a spectacular FAM trip in Cancun, and Baxter Media was thrilled to be part of the adventure, experiencing the best that the region has to offer. From luxury resorts to world-class dining, the properties showcased the exceptional service and immersive experiences that Marriott’s portfolio brings to the Canadian market.

Settling in at the Paraiso de la Bonita

Our home base for three nights was Paraiso de la Bonita, an adults-only all-inclusive that’s part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection Resort, that’s nestled between the lush mangrove trees and the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. This hidden gem offered a slice of paradise with unparalleled tranquility.

The resort boasts 90 all-suite, ocean-view accommodations, each with private balconies or terraces that provide sweeping views of the stunning Riviera Maya coastline. Guests can indulge in marble spa baths featuring deep soaking tubs and rain showers, complemented by Byredo amenities. The luxurious Frette bed and bath linens ensure a restful night after a day in this tranquil setting.

As part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, Paraiso de la Bonita also excels in culinary offerings. Epicureanism, the love of fine food and drink, is at the heart of their philosophy. The chef and sommelier team are passionate about delivering a top-tier dining experience, and it shows in every meal, from locally inspired dishes to global gourmet creations.

The resort’s décor and ambiance offer a refined, yet relaxed atmosphere. And if you’re wondering, a “reimagined hacienda” at Paraiso de la Bonita is a fusion of traditional Mexican architecture with modern, luxurious touches—creating an ambiance that celebrates both history and contemporary indulgence.

Marriott’s Growth in the Caribbean & Mexico

Marriott International has been strategically expanding its footprint in the Caribbean and Mexico, and with properties like Paraiso de la Bonita, they’re well-positioned to attract more Canadians looking for high-end escapes. As the brand continues to grow, the focus is on offering unique, luxurious stays that showcase the rich culture and natural beauty of the region. Canadians can count on Marriott to deliver excellence in every detail, whether for a romantic getaway, a wellness retreat, or an unforgettable culinary experience.

Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort

Our next stop was Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort, where we had the chance to explore the property and engage in a hands-on experience with a ceviche-making class at Cevicheria by La Isla. This casual yet upscale culinary experience was a highlight, offering guests an interactive way to discover the flavours of the Caribbean.

For lunch, we dined at Mo’s Burgers and Shakes, which brings a taste of Marriott’s legacy to Cancun. With 13 diverse dining options on-site, it was a tough choice, but we went with the famous Mighty Mo Burger, a nod to Marriott’s roots and a classic comfort dish. Mo’s is inspired by the origins of Marriott hospitality, offering classic diner fare with a modern twist—perfect for those craving a laid-back meal in a vibrant setting.

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai

Finally, we visited The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai, located within an expansive 620-acre nature reserve. This resort, with its two miles of pristine beach, is a celebration of both modern luxury and ancient Mayan culture.

With 182 rooms and suites, The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is sleek and stylish, and fun fact: it’s home to North America’s largest penthouse suite. The resort integrates the EDITION brand’s signature blend of minimalist design and high-touch service with the rich cultural heritage of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The cenote-inspired destination spa is a true highlight, offering a holistic experience that allows guests to connect with the natural environment.

The spa is simply one of the best I have ever seen, with private outdoor pools, hydrotherapy areas, a Turkish Hammam, steam and chromotherapy beds, and six private treatment rooms, blending luxury with nature’s soothing elements in a way that’s truly exceptional.

Luxury vs. Premium: Understanding the Difference

When recommending these properties to your Canadian clients, it’s important to note the distinction between luxury and premium offerings. While both categories offer high-quality experiences, luxury properties like Paraiso de la Bonita, Riviera Maya and The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai emphasize bespoke service, exclusivity, and immersion in local culture.

On the other hand, premium all-inclusive resorts like Marriott Cancun deliver excellent value with a wide variety of dining, activities, and family-friendly amenities, offering a more accessible luxury experience.
