Family, friends will be the focus for holiday season travellers

According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travellers, 70% of them will visit friends and relatives on holiday trips season, up from 61% last year.

And they are planning their holiday trips with family, with 50% traveling with their spouse/partner, 35% travelling with their children and 18% traveling with their parents.

Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International, observed that: “In addition to visiting friends and family during the holidays, other popular activities on these trips will include shopping, viewing holiday lights displays, attending local fairs and festivals and state and national parks.”

Eylon continued: “However, the percentage of travelers participating in each of those other activities is down from four to nine percent when compared with 2024.”

Fifty-five percent of travellers will hit the road during the holiday travel season, while 30% will be flying to their holiday destinations.

While 23% of travellers plan fewer trips during the holidays, up 6% from last year, 18% of them plan more travel this year.
