Five Booking Trends Driving Upcoming Travel

With borders reopening and vaccination rates increasing daily, luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent is witnessing the great comeback for international travel — especially among American travellers, writes managing editor, Ann Ruppenstein in the latest issue of Canadian Travel Press.

“People are happiest during that planning phase because ultimately it gives them something to look forward to,” says Stefanie Schmudde, VP Product Development & Operations, A&K. “I think everybody coming out of this is looking for that sense of normal, looking for that sense of celebration that we’ve all come out of this together.”

In a conversation with Canadian Travel Press, Schmudde shares some insight into travel booking trends and what types of journeys are popular right now.

There’s a direct correlation between the amount of travellers who are fully vaccinated and the number of trips being booked.

“We have seen positive booking trends really since the intense ramp up of vaccinations in the US,” she says. “As the vaccination rollouts have increased not only within the US, but also around the world, we’ve seen a positive spike in interest in bookings and that consumer confidence is coming back.”
