Greece Is Growing For Goway

Goway Travel reports that it has seen a record number of bookings for Greece. Sales in February 2018 have doubled against bookings taken a year ago, making the sun-kissed Mediterranean favourite one of the company’s top five European destinations.

Bronwyn Hodge, general manager of Goway Islands, observed: “The demand for a summer vacation to Greece has been incredible.”

She continued: “Greece is a destination that is easy to access, caters to a wide variety of budgets (our customers are booking packages from $5000 to $50,000) and it offers all the makings of a great holiday. There are picture-perfect whitewashed villages set against blue waters, sun-drenched beaches, fabulous seafood, beautiful boutique villas and hotels, historic sites, nightlife, and island hopping cruises.”

And Hodge added: “Our clientele includes honeymooners, families, couples travelling together of all ages, and cruisers.””

Popular itineraries include a combination of Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Crete. Goway’s Best of Greece has been the company’s biggest seller. Meanwhile, other clients want to explore off the beaten track, visiting some of the lesser visited islands including Rhodes, Milos, Patmos.

Goway recently partnered with Greece-based Celestyal Cruises, which offers 4 and 5 day cruises on mid-sized vessels with an inclusive experience. All meals, drinks, port charges, and gratuities are part of the package, along with some shore excursions.

She pointed out that: “With this type of demand we are continuing to develop and expand our product, giving our customers choice and making the booking process easy for travel agents.”

With a booming destination comes challenges, and travel agents should be aware of these when selling Greece.

Finding availability in the popular islands, especially in July and August can be difficult, and as a result of this demand, hotel rates are dynamic and can change quickly.

Many hotels in Greece have strict terms and conditions – requiring a deposit or full payment upfront. It’s important for travel agents to encourage their clients to book early when possible, to prepare their clients for these challenges and to not delay booking their holiday. Goway’s team of islands experts will help guide agents throughout the process.
