Hooray For TA’s

WestJet_flying-Jan7

WestJet has launched its travel agent appreciation month to recognize and thank its valued travel agent partners across the country. Travel agents make more than 40% of air bookings and more than half of WestJet Vacations’ reservations.

Bob Cummings, WestJet executive vice-president, sales, marketing and guest experience, said: “Travel agents and the many partner agencies we work with have been behind us from the day we took off 18 years ago, and we want them to know how much we value this critical relationship.”

Cummings observed: “We continue to grow and evolve our brand to attract new guests, in particular the business traveller, with low fares, choice and flexibility, and a convenient schedule. Travel agents are often the first point of contact for our business and leisure guests and their understanding and appreciation of our culture and our products makes them invaluable partners in helping us deliver a great guest experience.”

Travel Agent Day began on May 2, 2012. For the last two years, many in the industry have celebrated Travel Agent Appreciation Day the first Wednesday of May, including Canadian travel agencies and the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA).

Now WestJet has determined that a day just isn’t enough to thank travel agents for all they do, which is why it has designated the entire month of May.

And what kind of celebration would it be without a bit of fun? So to celebrate travel agent appreciation month, WestJet will be thanking its partners in a variety of different ways including a travel agent contest aptly titled “Hooray for TA’s” from May 1 to May 31, 2014.

Travel agents can win one of 44 prize giveaways including an all-inclusive stay and round-trip airfare for two in Antigua with five nights at St. James’s Club Antigua; an all-inclusive stay and round-trip airfare for two in St. Lucia with six nights at St. James’s Club Morgan Bay Saint Lucia; round-trip airfare for two to Palm Springs with a four-night stay at Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa; or a five-night stay at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani with round-trip airfare for two to Oahu.
