Intrepid showcases a different side of Europe with 32 new trips

Intrepid Travel is showcasing a “different side” of Europe, unveiling 32 new trips across 15 European countries, marking one of its largest expansions in the region to date.

With new alpine hikes, locally-led experiences and cultural journeys through lesser-known cities, the new itineraries invite travellers to explore Europe from a different perspective. Intrepid is also introducing three brand-new destinations in the region: Madeira, the Canary Islands and the Faroe Islands.

This launch comes after another summer shaped by overtourism and evolving climate conditions in Europe, which are influencing how and when travellers explore the continent.

While Intrepid bookings to popular destinations like Greece, Spain and Croatia are still seeing considerable year-on-year growth, more travellers are choosing to visit these destinations during shoulder season months, leading Intrepid to expand departure dates throughout the year.

At the same time, demand for alternative summer destinations has surged – up 23% in the Nordics and 52% in the Balkans – with Serbia, the Czech Republic and Albania ranking among Intrepid’s fastest-growing European destinations.

From sharing a home-cooked lunch on a Faroese farm to hiking Madeira’s dramatic peaks and rafting down Slovenia’s Soca River, these new trips range from 5 to 22 days and include active, family and premium itineraries, as well as trips to ‘cooler’ destinations.

Erica Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel, said: “Travellers have long shared a deep love of Europe, but the realities of overtourism and climate change are reshaping where and how people choose to explore. Iconic sights remain popular, yet more travellers are seeking out Europe’s hidden gems, chasing richer cultural connections and even, at times, cooler conditions.”

Kritikides continued: “From hiking in rural Albania to sailing quieter Greek islands or exploring the remote Faroe Islands, Intrepid’s new Europe trips reflect this shift, offering a fresh perspective on both new and familiar destinations. As is true of all our trips, Intrepid is committed to creating responsible European travel experiences, in partnership with our locally-based teams, that not only inspire travellers, but also support communities and protect these remarkable places for the future.”

With this launch, Intrepid now offers trips in 35 countries across Europe, which are operated out of the company’s five European offices. In addition to Croatia, Spain, Turkey and Iceland, Intrepid recently opened a new destination management office in Copenhagen, Denmark to oversee Intrepid’s growing portfolio of tours across Northern Europe. Another office opening is planned in Italy for 2026.
