Lufthansa Group, Amadeus partner to introduce Order ID

The Lufthansa Group and Amadeus are partnering to make booking, customizing and managing flights even easier and more intuitive for travellers.

The focus of the partnership is on the introduction of Order ID — a new identification number that will replace the previous booking and ticket numbers in the future and bring together all components of a trip.

These include the flight, reserved seats, baggage, and additional services such as upgrades or lounge access. This merger replaces the previously separate booking systems and thus creates a holistic overview of the entire trip for Lufthansa Group guests.

Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Executive Vice President Strategy at Lufthansa Group, said that: “As the pioneer in modern airline retailing, we are very pleased to partner with Amadeus to drive the development and implementation of an innovative order technology and further improve the travel experience for our customers.”

As a result of the standardization, in the future passengers will be able to rebook even faster and more conveniently, make additions to their booking or adjust their travel plan at short notice – especially in the event of flight schedule irregularities or changes.

With just one click, passengers receive alternative solutions and other important passenger information about their journey. The new technological basis also creates greater transparency for passengers: In the future, they will be able to see more easily which services are included in their booking and what additional options are available.

The new Order ID is being introduced gradually at several airlines of the Lufthansa Group and complements existing services such as the Travel ID, which continues to map the personal customer profile.
