May The Fourth Be With You

Take note all you Star Wars fans, Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is preparing for a new, three-day festival – May the Fourth Be With You.

Beginning May 4 – which happens to be the day when fans across the globe commemorate the Star Wars universe – the festival will bring fans together to celebrate the galaxy far, far away with a host of fun events for all-ages taking place across the County Kerry villages of Ballyferriter, Portmagee, Ballinskelligs and Valentia Island.

Fans attending will be able to enjoy outdoor drive-in movie screenings, guided film location walks, children’s workshops, a special céilí for Star Wars fans (fancy dress encouraged!) and more, all set against the breath-taking backdrop of the west Kerry coast, which featured in the latest movie installation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The festival celebrates Star Wars Day and the links between County Kerry and the renowned movie franchise. Ireland’s Star Wars journey, which began in Portmagee, County Kerry in 2014, has spanned some 2,000 kms of the Wild Atlantic Way – from the south-western Skellig islands to Ireland’s most northerly point, Malin Head.
