NCL Tackles Sagging Loonie

Norwegian_Feb26

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is tackling Canada’s weak loonie head on by offering travellers a Canadian At Par promotion (launched March 1) or its “Free At Sea” initiative in which guests can choose two of four onboard amenity offers – from free unlimited beverages, a free specialty dining package, shore excursion credits or a free 250-minute Internet package.

“It’s become clear to us that the Canadian consumer has been impacted by the disparity between the Canadian and US dollar. Our Canadian Pricing At Par promotion is our attempt to address this directly, and show both our consumers and our trade partners that we want to be supportive as a company under all conditions,” said Dana Gain, NCL national director, sales – Canada. “The Canadian Pricing At Par promotion means that the US dollar cruise fare becomes the equivalent of the Canadian dollar cruise fare on select sailings. We are very excited to be able to bring this initiative to the Canadian consumer. We believe this demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Canadian market. We hear you, we get it, we are addressing it.”

Gain advises that agents act quick to take advantage of these specials as the at par program — available on hundreds of sailings — must be booked by March 31. And, after March 15, the offer applies only to balcony category staterooms and higher.

With Norwegian’s Free at Sea offer, guests who book a new five-day or longer sailing more than 30 days prior to sailing in an oceanview, balcony or mini-suite category stateroom can select two of the amenity offers (as stated above). Guests booking a new five-day or longer sailing in an inside or studio category stateroom can select one of the offers, and guests booking a suite or The Haven by Norwegian will enjoy all four free amenities. It should be noted that the beverage package alone is valued at approximately US$1,100.
