NEW DIRECTION FOR BERMUDA TOURISM

During an event in Toronto this week, Robin Danes, of the Bermuda Tourist Board in Toronto revealed some details of the restructuring of Bermuda\’s Ministry of Tourism. We understand that Shawn Crockwell, Bermuda\’s Minister of Tourism has approved the introduction of a Bill in Parliament which if passed, will see the emergence of a Tourism Authority headed by Chairman Designate Hotelier David Dodwell. Quoting Danes, \”The authority will take over much of the work previously carried out by civil servants and politicians within the Ministry of Tourism.\”

In brief, the politics are to be taken out of tourism.
