PEPPER RETIRING IN 2014

Michael Pepper, who has led the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) since its inception, is retiring as TICO\’s president and CEO in July 2014. Pepper has played a critical role in establishing the administrative authority. He was instrumental in bringing in financial and educational standards for the industry and has been committed to realizing the vision of a fair, safe and informed marketplace where consumers can be confident in their travel purchases.
TICO\’s board will now begin a process to choose Pepper\’s successor and will consider internal and external candidates for the job.
Commenting on his decision, Pepper stated: \”It has been a difficult decision for me. I have enjoyed my time at TICO and am proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the years. I will miss the daily interaction with my colleagues and associates in the industry. However, I feel that it is time to move on and enjoy the next phase of my life spending time with family and friends and, of course, travelling.\”
TICO board chair, Michael Janigan said: \”It has been a privilege to work with Michael over the years and the board is grateful for his innumerable contributions. Michael has provided strong leadership to the organization and the Selection Committee has some big shoes to fill in finding his successor.\”
