Home Pix of the Trade Dancing in the streets

DAILY-DR-Feb22

Just as Montrealers started bundling up for February, a few lucky commuters got a live taste of sunnier climes, as the Dominican Republic took over a bus stop on René Lévesque Boulevard. The bus stop, transformed into a tropical paradise, was launched with live merengue dancers who braved the cold to bring a taste of the tropics to Quebec. According to Cosette Garcia, director of the Dominican Republic Tourist Board in Montreal, the Dominican Republic is one of the most popular vacation destinations for visitors from Quebec. “Each year, we send over 760,000 visitors from Canada to our country. There seems to be a genuine affinity between our people, a natural warmth that we share. So the idea of this promotion – the dancers, the music – is to bring some Dominican sun here to warm at least the hearts of Montrealers until they can come and visit us again.” (http://www.vivapuntacana.ca)
