Porter takes off transborder from YVR, adds more sun from YOW

Porter Airlines continues to grow its network, celebrating the launch of nonstop service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), with the seasonal service marking the airline’s first transborder route from Western Canada. The flights will operate daily until April 19, 2026.

Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines, said: “Being able to give travellers more convenient options to travel from Vancouver is a pivotal moment for Porter. This route makes Phoenix’s unique desert and mountain landscape more accessible to our passengers in the west, and offers travellers a seamless connection to additional destinations in the U.S., through our codeshare partner, American Airlines.”

This is Porter’s third route to Phoenix, joining year-round service from Toronto Pearson and seasonal Ottawa flights. Connections are also available from Phoenix through Porter’s partner, American Airlines, to destinations such as Tucson and San Diego.

More Sun from Ottawa

Porter has inaugurated from to Miami (MIA) and Phoenix (PHX) from Ottawa International Airport (YOW); with the flights representing the only nonstop service from YOW to MIA and PHX.

Miami service began on Jan. 24, with three weekly flights. The popular destination adds to Ottawa’s growing list of Florida markets, including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa.

Phoenix flights also operate three times weekly, beginning Feb. 7.

Both new routes provide greater international and cross-border connectivity for onward travel by two significant hubs for Porter’s codeshare partner, American Airlines.

In Phoenix, this opens up 36 additional destinations in the Western U.S. operated by American Airlines and its affiliates, including Tucson, Honolulu, Kahului, and San Diego, and offering easy connections to many popular cities.
