Reconnecting With Friends

A large cross-section of the Toronto-area travel industry got together for some much-appreciated meeting and greeting Thursday night.

Pat Probert of TravelOnly agency Bob Family Travel joined Baxter Media in restarting evening travel industry get-togethers last year, and last night, they again used the lawn of the waterside Mimico Cruising Club, a venue that enabled social distancing.

“It’s time to make sure you’re vaccinated and spend time with family and friends,” Probert said, adding, “We appreciate what Baxter Media does for us.”

The event provided a welcome opportunity for people to reconnect with others in the travel industry after being separated by the pandemic.

“I’m always impressed with the great gathering Pat puts together with industry leaders,” said Michele Martinson of Aeromexico.

Abdalah Castillo of the Dominican Republic’s tourism board said he was pleased to see familiar faces.

“It’s a great pleasure to enjoy time with colleagues from the industry, ” he said, adding he’s looking forward to a growing number of people from this country vacationing in his homeland.

A representative of ProColombia — the tourist board of Colombia — representative — the event was a “welcome opportunity to share space with so many industry people.”

The evening also drew TravelOnly CEO and president Gregory Luciani, who mentioned he appreciates the gatherings. “I never miss this event.”.

Meanwhile, Probert thanked Mimico Cruising Club general manager John Pereira for his help in helping with the evening.
