Remembering Duncan Bureau

Family, friends and industry colleagues are mourning the sudden passing of industry veteran, Duncan Bureau, this week; with the news of Bureau’s death being greeted by disbelief, shock and sadness.
In a message on its LinkedIn page, Farenexus posted: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and industry colleague, Duncan Bureau. Duncan was a widely-respected leader whose passion for travel, commitment to people, and unwavering energy left a meaningful impact on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.”
Bureau was chief commercial officer for Farenexus and the company’s post continues: “Throughout his remarkable career, Duncan inspired teams, elevated organizations, and built lasting relationships across the industry. His dedication, generosity, and ability to bring people together will be remembered by many.”
In a message from Voyzant’s Co-Founder & Group Chief Executive Officer, Chippy Jegathesan observed that: “The news of Duncan Bureau’s passing has left a deep void in our industry and in the hearts of all who knew him. I had the privilege of knowing Duncan for nearly twenty years, going back to his WestJet days, and over time he became far more than a partner or colleague; he became one of my closest industry friends.”
Jegathesan continued: “Duncan was an aviation pioneer with a remarkable ability to see opportunity long before others did. He understood the business, but more importantly, he understood people. Whenever I needed sound industry advice, a perspective rooted in experience, or a connection that truly mattered, Duncan was one of the very few I trusted to call.”
Voyzant’s Co-Founder & Group Chief Executive Officer wrote that: “What set Duncan apart was the generosity of his spirit. He was a leader who lifted others, a mentor who never hesitated to guide, and a friend who always made time no matter how busy his world was. His sense of humour was legendary, the kind that could disarm tension in a boardroom or create memories at industry gatherings. Duncan’s name carried weight in aviation, but it was his humility and kindness that earned him the admiration of colleagues across airlines, consolidators, and agencies alike.”
Wrote Jegathesan: “Duncan leaves behind a legacy of integrity, leadership, and genuine humanity. He will be remembered fondly as an industry icon, as someone who touched lives, opened doors, and made our industry better simply by being in it. His loss is felt deeply by all of us.”
In its remembrance of Bureau, Farenexus observed that: “This is a profound loss, not just for those who knew him personally, but for the entire travel community. His legacy of leadership and kindness will continue to influence and inspire us all.”
“On behalf of our entire organization,” Farenexus’ post continues, “we extend our heartfelt condolences to Duncan’s family, friends, and colleagues. We mourn alongside you and stand with you during this difficult time.”
And it concludes: “May he rest in peace, and may his contributions and spirit continue to shine through the people and lives he touched.”
From all of us here at Baxter Media — who have known and worked with Duncan over the years – we send our deepest condolences. He was one of a kind and he will be missed.
