RIU CONSOLIDATES CITY BRAND

Riu Plaza Hotels says it has established itself as a premium option for large events and conventions after hosting more than 3,500 events in its hotels in Panama City and Guadalajara, Mexico. RIU diversified in 2010 with the introduction of its new brand of city hotels, a clear distinction from its resort hotels. Riu Plaza Hotels, strategically positioned, draws 60 years experience from its holiday resorts, which have been adapted to its urban concept. The conference rooms at the Riu Plaza Panama and Riu Plaza Guadalajara have hosted conferences such as the one attended by former US President Bill Clinton, as well as the G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists; a concert from the Swedish DJ Aviccii; and social events such as the Miss Panama 2012 pageant and the LORENA OCHOA INVITATIONAL golf tournament. The Riu Plaza Panama, with 21 meeting rooms and a capacity up to 2,500 people, and the Riu Plaza Guadalajara, with 16 conference rooms and a capacity of 1,300 people, have “managed to consolidate themselves as the ideal places for meetings and events as they offer the largest equipped meeting spaces within their respective cities, a specialized professional team, exquisite gastronomic offer and a large number of rooms to accommodate small and large groups.”Riu Plaza Hotels has decided to continue expanding its brand with the opening of the Riu Plaza Berlin in early 2014 and the Riu Plaza New York Times Square in 2015.
