Vancouver, March 22, 2017 - The SDECB is proud to be a preferred partner of the national Francophone Heritage, Culture and Tourism Corridor project announced last Friday by the Minister of Canadian Heritage, The Honorable Mélanie Joly.

As a member of the Réseau de développement économique et d’employabilité (RDÉE Canada – Economic development and employability network), the Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique has been entrusted with the responsibility of promoting a series of British Columbia tourism products.

The products chosen for the first phase of the project will be presented on an interactive platform to be launched in July 2017. This tool will allow the SDECB to highlight British Columbia’s Francophone heritage and culture, and promote its tourism products on domestic and international Francophone markets.

SDECB Executive Director Donald Cyr believes this project, financed as part of the 150th anniversary of Confederation initiatives, is an excellent development. “The BC tourist products that will be targeted by this initiative will have a definite appeal for all visitors. They will combine heritage and cultural products, authentic experiences, adventures and attractions. At a time when the national and international demand for Francophone British Columbia tourism products is increasing, our involvement in the Corridor project is very important. This initiative will contribute to the development of the province’s Francophone tourism sector and generate significant economic benefits for British Columbia.”
