Santa Monica Brings Some California Sunshine To Canada

It was all sunshine as Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT), along with its partners — Air Canada, Shutters on the Beach, Casa del Mar, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and the new Regent Santa Monica Beach — recently wrapped up their sales mission to Toronto and Vancouver (April 3-6, 2023)

The mission hosted more than 170 travel advisors, travel partners for a series of appointments and events, while highlighting the latest developments from Los Angeles’ beach city.

Misti Kerns, President and CEO of Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, pointed out that: “Canada is a vital market for Santa Monica tourism and is in the top three countries for international visitors to our community.”

And Kerns continued: “We are excited to work together with our partners to continue to elevate Santa Monica’s presence in Canada while highlighting the unique beach lifestyle experiences we offer, all within just 13 kms from LAX.”

Sana Keller, Managing Partner at Pulse Travel Marketing, the Canadian agency of record promoting the beachside city, noted that: “We want to ensure that Santa Monica is top of mind when promoting California and is prominently positioned with the travel trade, media and key distribution channels across Canada.”

Keller continued: “Santa Monica boasts some incredible attractions including the legendary beachfront Pacific Park, with a solar powered Ferris wheel, two Michelin starred restaurants, over 40 incredible hotels, all within walking distance from the beach, great walkable neighbourhoods and the fact that Santa Monica is synonymous with sustainability, environmental awareness and sunshine.”

All attendees on the two-city tour were automatically entered into a draw for a grand prize courtesy of Air Canada and mission partners for a trip for two persons, with six nights’ accommodations at our luxury hotel properties and attraction passes to round out this Santa Monica experience.

Paul Chin Aleong of Newwave Travel / Direct Travel was the Toronto prize winner, while Claudia LaRoye was the Vancouver winner.

Additional prizes given out at the events included customized hand painted bottles of Möet & Chandon champagne that were strategically selected to bring together the chic beachside city of Santa Monica with the vibrant effervescence of this champagne.

Annika Klint, Travel Trade and Marketing Account Director and Partner at Pulse Travel Marketing, said: “Congratulations to all of our winners! The vibrant city of Santa Monica offers the quintessential Southern California Beach experience and it is easy to stay fit and see the sights with beaches, surfing, Muscle Beach and Santa Monica’s 35-kms bike path. Canadians looking for a weekend getaway will find it easy to get to LAX with the abundance of direct flights on Air Canada from gateways across Canada.”
