Sunwing Committed To Safety

With the federal government’s new vaccination requirements for Canadian air travel coming into effect on Oct. 30, 2021, Sunwing continues to help its customers and agents to navigate the new regulations as part of its commitment to frictionless travel experiences.

The tour operator and airline are ensuring agents and customers have all the information they need right at their fingertips with updated communications and helpful resources. In addition, the company implemented a mandatory corporate vaccination policy for employees across all Canadian divisions as part of its continuing efforts to help end the pandemic, protect employees and those vacationing with the company.

In anticipation of the Oct. 30 implementation date, Sunwing has sent out numerous email reminders to customers and agents explaining the new requirements, in addition to updating the Travel Requirements page on www.Sunwing.ca with a pre-departure checklist under the ‘Before going to the airport’ tab and updating the Sunwing Agent portal.

Reminders about vaccination requirements can also be found within the booking path, the Travel Advisories page, eDocs, confirmation emails and within the new Sunwing App. The new requirements will be rolled out in a two-phased approach starting Oct. 30, details of which can be reviewed on all agent and consumer platforms.

Andrew Dawson, president of tour operations at Sunwing, said that: “As demonstrated by the government lifting the advisory against non-essential travel for fully vaccinated Canadians, vaccinations are a critical tool in helping our industry rebound and return stronger than ever before.”

Dawson added: “We’re dedicated to making the travel process frictionless and stress-free every step of the way and are in constant communication with our customers and agency partners. With simplified information on travel requirements, we’re hoping to show Canadians that returning to paradise is easy under our wing.”

In line with the new federal regulations, Sunwing has also implemented a mandatory corporate vaccination policy for new and existing employees across its Canadian divisions. All employees, including those who are working from home on a part-time or full-time basis, must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment, with limited exemptions.

Kelly Davis, chief people officer at Sunwing Travel Group, said that: “The response to our corporate vaccination policy has been overwhelmingly positive. After over a year and a half of living through this pandemic, our passionate and customer-centric employees are eager to do whatever it takes to help support our beloved industry.”

Davis continued: “Vaccinations have proven to be the most effective tool in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and, in turn, supporting the revival of our sector. To date, 96.7% of our Canadian employees are within compliance of the policy and we are grateful for our EPIC team’s support of our industry’s recovery.”
