UPDATE: Sunwing Confirms Sked Is Back To Normal

Sunwing is confirming that its flight schedule has returned to normal.

In a statement issued late Friday (April 22), the company said: “We can confirm that our flight schedule has returned to normal. Any Sunwing flights that were delayed as a result of the system outage have been resolved or are in progress. Any further scheduling changes are unrelated to the system issue.”

The carrier continued: “However, check-in times and passenger processing may be slower than usual throughout the coming days until we fully relaunch our passenger handling system. Customers are encouraged to check their flight status on Sunwing.ca for the most up-to-date information on departure times.”

And Sunwing concluded: “We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we worked around the clock to resume regular flight operations this week.”

Earlier Update From The Carrier

Sunwing is reporting that “since the start of the system issue on Sunday [April 17], we have had 188 flights impacted by delays. As of this afternoon [April 21], 153 of those flights (81%) have been completed or are in progress, and we expect to be close to normal operations by the weekend.”

The company’s update continues: “Customers with upcoming flights over the next few days are encouraged to keep checking their flight status on Sunwing.ca for the most up-to-date information on departure times.”

Sunwing said: “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our customers for their patience this week as we work to get back to normal. This has been made possible thanks to the assistance of other carriers who we continue to sub-charter aircraft from, the dedication of our airline staff, including on-the-ground teams at airports, flight and cabin crew, along with our partners in destination.”
