TIAC throws ‘One Hill of a Party’ in Ottawa

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) – along with provincial and territorial industry associations (PTTIA) — in collaboration with the Provincial and Territorial Industry Associations (PTTIAs), along with the support of Destination Canada and The Globe and Mail – hosted a reception for its members at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building in Ottawa recently.

The event brought together Members of Parliament, Senators, staff, and tourism leaders from across the country for meaningful conversations about the sector’s vital role in Canada’s economy and communities.

Together, TIAC showcased how tourism fuels growth, supports over 265,000 businesses, and sustains more than 2 million jobs nationwide.

It was also notable that TIAC’s ‘One Hill of a Party” attracted members from all parties, giving them an opportunity to meet those who work in the tourism sector.

Attendees heard speeches from Matthew Jelley, Chair of the TIAC Board, MP Weiler, Senator Karen Sorrenson, Marsha Walden (CEO of Destination Canada), and Minister Rechie Valdez (Minister of Women and Gender Equity, and Secretary of State for Tourism and Small Business).

During the event, TIAC also highlighted its new Local Impact tool, which allows elected officials and stakeholders to see the direct contribution of tourism in every riding and community. The response was overwhelmingly positive and you can check out the Local Impact tool by going to www.tourismcan.ca .

Along with enjoying regional cuisine from across Canada, an Indigenous ceremony, attendees were also entertained by Canadian performers, Joel Plaskett and Peter Elkas.

All in all, the high-profile reception did a great job of showcasing tourism’s role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and enriching communities across the country.

Or, simply put, it was ‘One Hill of a Party.’
