TICO Conviction

Tri World Travel and Gary Cristello, officer/director of Tri World, plead guilty and were convicted of the following offences: Tri World, four counts of furnishing false information relating to the provision of travel services, through its outside sales representative; Tri World, seven counts of failing to hold customer funds in trust account; and Cristello, four counts of failing to take reasonable care to prevent Tri World from committing an offence, through its outside sales representative, of furnishing false information relating to the provision of travel services.

The following sentences were imposed: Tri World, $10,000 fine and restitution to consumers in the amount of $2,000; Cristello, $5,000 fine.

In relation to these matters, TICO has charged Frank Cardona, a former outside sales representative, with one count of operating as a travel agent without registration. He is also facing criminal charges of fraud.
