TICO Postpones AGM

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has decided to postpone the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for June 30, 2020 to September 17, 2020.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Corporate Event Centre, 5110 Creekbank Road in Mississauga, Ontario. A revised First Notice of meeting has been posted on the website. While it is hoped that this postponement will allow TICO to hold a customary AGM, as the COVID-19 circumstances are fluid, changes to the usual arrangements, including location, may be made. Please watch for further updates concerning the event. Notice will be provided with respect to any changes.

TICO is holding an election for one position on the Board of Directors. It is open to a retail or wholesale candidate. The term of the position is two years. A nominations package was mailed to all registrants in early March. The deadline for nominations will be extended until 5 p.m. Eastern Time on July 13, 2020. Registrants may use the nomination forms that were mailed to them or an updated copy of the nominations package is available on TICO’s website. Following the receipt of nominations, ballots will be sent to registrants. The results of the election will be announced at the AGM on September 17, 2020.

Noting that this is an unprecedented time in the travel industry, TICO is encouraging eligible registrants to consider running for the board position.

Participation on TICO’s Board of Directors involves a substantial time commitment when one considers participation at board and committee meetings and preparation time. A board member can expect to commit approximately 140 to 150 hours per year. TICO is committed to sharing information on the previous financial year and its Annual Report at the AGM.
