Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) Canada recently presented a cheque for $5,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg as part of CWT’s “Together We Can” program.

Through that program, CWT employees were invited to nominate a local charitable organization to receive a monetary donation from CWT Canada.

This year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg was selected as the award recipient through a company-wide vote.

CWT employees Colleen Robertson and Wendy Templeman, located in Winnipeg, are involved with the organization and nominated it for the award.

Both are passionate about the organization’s youth programs and have assisted the Clubs with planning and sales for fundraisers, holiday gift wrapping events and staff gatherings.

Templeman said: “As an employee of CWT Canada, I am thrilled the company I work for continues to invest in the communities in which we do business and especially in organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg. Through my experience with the Clubs, I truly believe this is one of the best ways to engage with youth, keep them productively occupied after school and help build their skills for a successful life.”

The presentation took place earlier this week at a ceremony at CWT’s Winnipeg office and seen here in the photo, from l to r, are Ron Brown, president & CEO Boys and Girls Club Winnipeg; Una O’Leary, CWT senior director, marketing & supplier; Heather Black, director of community engagement Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg; Wendy Templeman, CWT, Colleen Robertson, CWT, Meg Murgatroyd, CWT director supplier management; Christine Ufniak, CWT director of marketing; and Lora Bircham, CWT.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg’s mission is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

With positive role models and mentors at the forefront of their programs, children and youth have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a safe and caring environment.

CWT Canada has a long standing history of community involvement. This program is another example of the company’s commitment to supporting local organizations across Canada and to making a difference in neighboring communities.
