TRAFALGAR PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON SOUTH AMERICA

Trafalgar has launched its 2014 South America brochure that includes trips to Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. Adding four new itineraries to its roster, the brochure features a total of 17 expertly planned trips as well as eight optional extensions that allow for maximum flexibility. In addition to knowledgeable local guides in the majority of cities visited, the South American itineraries also include a number of local specialties and exclusive Be My Guest dining experiences that introduce travellers to local artisans and homeowners, and offer them a taste of regional flavours and traditions. A new induction for 2014 is Trafalgar’s Authentic Accommodation feature – hotels that give clients insight into the destination through their remarkable architecture, rich historical background or magnificent location, whether it be a restored hacienda that dates back to 1602 or a five-star hotel that doubles as a colonial mansion. “South America is definitely one of the most popular travel destinations of the past few years, and its popularity continues to grow amongst Canadians looking to explore a less-travelled region of the world,”says Doug Patterson, president of Trafalgar Canada. “Trafalgar’s Insider Experiences allow clients to really go deep into the heart of South America, as they find themselves dining on homemade meals at the houses of locals and meeting artisans who make a living from creating traditional wares.”To kick off the launch of its new brochure, Trafalgar is offering savings of 10% off 2014 South America guided vacations booked and paid for by Nov. 29 (a savings of up to $1,594 per couple). Plus, Trafalgar is also offering 10% off flights when booked at the same time. New for next year is Trafalgar’s 13-day Peru Andean Explorer, which takes travellers to some of the most interesting cities and villages in South America, and of course spends a couple of nights in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Starting and ending in Lima, guests will also visit Cusco, Puno, Colca Canyon and Arequipa along the way, with Trafalgar’s local experts to lead sightseeing in each city. To start the trip, travellers will delight in an exclusive Be My Guest lunch at the colonial estate of Dr. Diez Canseco, who will guide a tour through the property before sitting down to a homemade lunch of Peruvian dishes. In Cusco, guests are treated to a special presentation from local expert Peter Frost, an English author and archaeologist, who will discuss Inca archaeology, and at Lake Titicaca they’ll board a cruise on the serene waters with a local expert who will teach them about the myths and marvels of the lake. Another new itinerary added to the 2014 brochure is the 10-day Colourful Trails of Ecuador tour, which takes guests from north to south at one of the world’s hottest travel destinations of the moment. The trip starts in Quito and ends in Guayaquil. (http://www.trafalgar.com)
