Transat Offers Update On Changes, Cancellations

In a message to travel advisors, Transat says that “unfortunately travel demand has slowed since the recent government advisory to Canadians to avoid non-essential international travel.”

And it continues that: “Since then, we have offered those booked to travel Dec. 16, 2021 to Jan. 12, 2022, the opportunity to change their travel dates or to cancel and receive a travel credit. To make changes, agents must call our Contact Centre, there will be no change fee, but any fare difference will apply. Requests for cancellation must be submitted using our online cancellation form.”

Transat also notes that: “Additionally, there will be changes made to our winter flight program, specifically for departures Jan. 12 to Feb. 25, 2022. The vast majority of our flights will operate as planned during this period. Travel agencies with bookings that are impacted by any changes will receive notifications between Dec. 23 and Dec. 27, 2021.”

SOUTH

Those with reservations impacted by flight cancellations will receive a refund to the form of payment on file (including any amount paid for ancillary revenue such as seat selection and Option Plus). There is no re-protection being offered. Exceptionally, there will be offers of re-protection on some flights to Haiti. For group reservations, travel agencies will be contacted to discuss changes and options.

DOMESTIC, EUROPE & UNITED STATES

Agencies will receive notifications that will inform them of a change and the options available to their clients. In some cases, re-protection will be offered. For reservations made via Sirev Webfares, no action will be required if the re-protection is being accepted but if the re-protection is being declined, we must receive a response.

For reservations made via the tour operator you must accept or decline the re-protection. A response must be submitted, using the link provided within 5 days of the notice being sent.

Travellers who decline re-protection and those who are not given the option of re-protection will receive a refund to the form of payment on file (including any amount paid for ancillary revenue such as seat selection and Option Plus).

For group reservations, travel agencies will be contacted to discuss changes and options.

Important note about the cancellation form: Travel agents are asked to use the B2B version whenever possible for those who booked via their agencies. When the travel agency is closed and the flexibility deadline is in jeopardy, clients can use the B2C version of the form.
