ME to WE has convinced a travel industry heavyweight to enlist to assist.

ME to WE, which among other things sends people to Third World countries to do volunteer work on the likes of building schools, has notched a global partnership with The Travel Corporation, which will see that company help ME to WE build a greater international reach as it works to deliver what company co-founder Marc Kielburger calls a “hand up, not a handout.”

The Travel Corporation CEO Brett Tollman told PressToday during an Oct. 4 Toronto event that his company’s seven brands will now be promoting ME to WE trips to Kenya, Ecuador and India on their websites and in their brochures, although those wanting to actually book a ME to WE trip will have to do it through ME to WE.
Tollman said the partnership won’t bring any financial benefits to The Travel Corporation.

“It’s purely altruistic,” he said of his company’s decision to partner with what he labelled an “amazing organization.”

Tollman also suggested that those who go on a The Travel Corporation trip consider extending their vacation by adding a ME to WE volunteer experience of four or more days after their TravCorp trip ends.

The Travel Corporation has for some time touted its own TreadRight Foundation, which works with the likes of the World Wildlife Foundation on a variety of sustainable tourism projects.
Tollman said there’s a “growing desire” among the world’s travellers to participate in what the likes of ME to WE offers.

Kielburger in turn said The Travel Corporation is “being incredibly generous” to ME to WE, and ME to WE’s ties with it will have a “significant impact” on its efforts to help people in developing countries.

He expects that ME to WE projects in countries other than Ecuador, Kenya and India will eventually be promoted by The Travel Corporation.
